Hot Tamale Baby is essential zydeco. Buck learned it playing organ for Clifton Chenier, the King of Zydeco. Buck did a guest shot with the Paul Shaffer band the night Martha Stewart returned to the Letterman show following her jail stint, and Buck suggested playing this to bring her on. She loved it! Featuring: Stanley "Buckwheat" Dural Jr. on accordion; Lee Allen Zeno, bass; Paul "Lil' Buck" Sinegal, guitar; Mike Melchione, guitar; Sir Reginald Master Dural; rubboard, Kevin Menard, drums; Curtis Watson, trumpet.

I stumbled upon "That's Right" back in 1997, when I was experimenting with music, trying to find a groove that lived somewhere between rumba flamenco, bhangra music, and a Bo Didley beat. I'm not sure if I ever found what I was looking for. But once I got writing this song, it didn't seem to matter.

Similar to this version, I played all the instruments on the old original recording too. Except the amazing accordion part...that was Buckwheat Zydeco of course. He was fantastic, but that's another story...

Special thanks to my friend, and cameraman, Corey Winfield, who helped me out on this video. It felt so liberating to head outside and do one of these outside the four walls of my home.
